This can encompass items like furniture, white goods (appliances), clothing, toys, and other light materials. It generally excludes heavy materials like concrete, dirt, and large amounts of building rubble, as well as liquids and hazardous waste.

Heavy Waste

Heavy general waste typically includes heavy materials like concrete, bricks, tiles, sand, soil, rocks, hardwood timbers, large tree trunks (greater than 150 mm in diameter) and tree stumps.

100% Green Waste & Timber

Green waste, also known as garden waste or organic waste, refers to biodegradable materials generated from gardens, parks, and other landscaped areas. It primarily includes plant matter like grass clippings, leaves, branches, and weeds, but can also encompass some food waste. Green waste is typically collected for composting or other forms of recycling, diverting it from landfills.

100% Brick/Rubble

100% brick/rubble is a type of construction and demolition waste consisting of materials like concrete, brick, asphalt, and rock, that are free from contaminants like wood, plastic, and paper. It is often reused as road base, fill material, or in construction project, which is why it needs to be clean and uncontaminated.

100% Dry Dirt

100% Dry Dirt or Cleanfill is a type of waste consisting of uncontaminated, inert materials like soil, rock, sand, and gravel that can be reused or recycled without environmental harm. It must not contain any contaminants or pollutants like general rubbish or hazardous waste. Cleanfill is often used for landscaping and other construction projects, which means that it needs to be clean.

100% Concrete

100% concrete or clean concrete skip bins are commonly used for the disposal of concrete, bricks, pavers and roof tiles. Concrete should not contain reinforcing steel.

Service and disposal

Service and tipping is for any waste where the waste to be disposed of is of an unclassified type and may only be determined upon disposal. This could be used of mixtures of difficult disposal wastes or contaminated materials.

Carpet Waste

Carpet waste skip bins are for customers who are removing carpet from a home, office or other premises for disposal. As of 2026, there are few or no options for carpet recycling, so carpet in any quantity has to be disposed of at a landfill and will incur the Victorian Waste Levy. There are many different types of carpet, which is very often accompanied by underlay. Both carpet and underlay can vary significantly in weight. When looking for a skip bin for carpet be aware of what carpet type and weight your actual carpet is. Read more about waste carpet disposal at https://skips.com.au/uncategorized/waste-carpet-disposal/
